ABOUT ARTSYLAND

Artsyland is an artist duo based in Amsterdam. Being close friends since long time ago and sharing the same life and artistic values, Julia and Elena decided to start working collaboratively on art projects in 2016. They aligned their talents and joined forces to effectively steer their creative work.

The duo creates mostly abstract art using a variety of new techniques such as fluid acrylics, ink and resin, however, they also love improvising with classical oil.

As artists, they are constantly experimenting with art media. In their creative projects, they combine various materials such as resin which gives a flawless glossy surface with a 3D effect, ink that gives an airy and graceful tone, texture mediums and acrylics.

One of our main sources of inspiration is certainly the free spirit of Amsterdam. Just looking at the city with its colourful sunsets, purple skies and the canals that shine at night, a million new ideas fly into the mind.

The duo makes art for everybody, so everyone can find something in the collection that they like. They create exclusive paintings to let you have a stunning, original piece of art on your wall, making your home vibrant and extraordinary.

Paintings by Julia and Elena have been bought by private collections in the US, Australia, Europe and Russia. They have also participated in various exhibitions, both online and in galleries.

Julia Volkova

I was born in North Yakutia, Russia, where the temperature reaches minus sixty degrees in the winter. The north is rich with colours, which is probably why I loved to draw and paint from a young age. Every time I look back at my childhood, I see myself drawing, never letting go of my pencil. Over the years, my grandpa collected my drawings and made an album, which I still look through. Each time I do, I’m instantly taken back to those cold winters and cosy fireplaces.

I was educated as an economist. Making art for a living was only a dream. But when I moved to the Netherlands, my dream came true. I started to draw, paint and create. My art mate Elena who we started Artsyland with has really helped me. We started working together a couple of years ago as a creative collaboration and the business is really taking off.

I love art because it has opened up a neglected part of me. It helps me put things in perspective, offers great solace and allows me to think freely. That is why my motto is this:

"Nobody can break the rules as beautifully as a artist!"

Elena Kirutta (Plykina)

I'm living in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, but I'm originally from Russia. I decided to follow my passion for creating art after spending 8 years in operational marketing management. I studied decorative art and interior design, and carried out various interior projects for nearly 5 years. In Amsterdam, I studied classic oil and acrylics techniques in a more detailed way. And now, I'm passionate about creating abstract art using fluid paint techniques.

I started working with Julia a couple of years ago, and I’m really happy I found a person that is artistic, nice and inspiring. We work really well together, and it's great that we both love our job.

My greatest support is my family, who have been absolutely amazing. I'm the mother of two beautiful daughters and the wife of the husband with a great sense of humor that always cheers me up. They have all been there for me on every step of my artistic journey.

I believe that nothing in life happens by accident. All the events that occur in our lives end up becoming a part of that life. That's exactly what happened to me; everything was pushing me into art, and it ended up being one of the main aspects of my life. Art helps me to understand myself and express my feelings and emotions. For me art is a never- ending adventure.
